Basic enemies
Beetles

Beetles are simple animals with simple dreams.  They walk slowly back and forth across the floor, street, or landscape and turn around only when they hit a wall or a larger enemy. Beetles get very dirty while crawling in the mud, and enjoy taking baths at every opportunity.

Beetles cannot be injured by any of your weapons or those of other humans. But if you shower them with soap or soapy water, they will stop crawling so they can enjoy their bath.

When the beetle is lying on its back, it cannot move, but it will still kill you if you touch it.

Beetles can climb ladders.

Blobbies

Blobbies are amoeba-like creatures who love playing with each other and with you. When you hit a blobby with your bullets, they will spray slime in all directions. You must not touch this slime, because, like the body of the blobby itself, it will kill you instantly. But when you fire from a distance, you can use the blobbies to dissolve the walls and floors around you.

Blobbies have no eyes and cannot see you. But if you use your love power, you can attract the blobbies toward you and then stop them from moving away.

If you time it right, you can run underneath a blobby and make it to a safe spot on the other side.

Human soldiers

Not all humans are friendly. You will meet many hostile enemy soldiers on your way.

Foot soldiers

Foot soldiers are the most common human opponents.

Human soldiers are mostly found among their own kind, because other enemies will attack them on sight, and humans will die on contact with an enemy of any other species. Nevertheless, human soldiers sometimes appear alongside Bombs and Blobbies, where they attempt to bait the enemies into following them towards you.

Soldiers often kneel when guarding staircases since it makes them harder to hit.

Paratroopers

Paratroopers travel in spaceships so they can reach levels before you do, and then descend with parachutes so they can land in a safe spot.

Soldiers cannot reach their weapons while their parachute is open, so it is safe to approach and even pass through them, but they will begin firing the moment they touch down.

Paratroopers tend to come in swarms.

Spikes

Spikes are found frequently attached to floors, walls, and ceilings.  Most are static; only in racecourses will you see spikes that rise and fall around you.  Spikes cannot be destroyed unless the platform they sprout from is also destroyed.  Any direct contact with a spike will kill you.  Spikes will not harm enemies, but most enemies cannot walk through them.

CAUTION: A falling spike will still kill you. This can happen when enemies higher on the screen push blocks out of their way, or when a bomb explodes and destroys a block attached to a spike.
